Flash Games as Rewards for Kids

by Leighanne 4/18/2008 2:06:00 AM

I found a very interesting website today:  http://handipoints.com  This is a chore-tracking website where the kids not only get an allowance that is tracked online, but if they get great grades on their chores - they get "handipoints". They can use these handipoints to go online and play games.

This is really interesting to me for a few reasons:

  1. I have kids and I know how much they love games like Webkinz.
  2. Kids are willing to "earn" time to play games. I can finally get them to rush to their chores!

This is interesting in the andragogy world too. We already provide online games for our learners to test information. (See a great tool by Instructional Spice)  Is there anyway we can use some sort of reward system for adults? Besides pay I mean. Ex: Extra leisure time? Online attaboys?

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.
